If you know anything about me, you know I am a personal development junkie, and I absolutely LOVE reading books that allow me to learn and grow. I can attribute so much of my positive mindset and mental health shift to just filling my brain with incredible information from some of the most amazing people in the world.
I am always recommending books that have literally changed my life to my friends, family, blog readers, strangers I meet on the T or in coffee shops, so I decided to compile a list of those books here 🙂
Disclaimer: when you click on the link for the book I provide, it will bring you to my Amazon Affiliate site where I receive a referral bonus for sharing the book with you when you purchase it from there (girls gotta make money somehow right?! 😉 )
I will be updating the list on the regular since I am ALWAYS reading and freaking love talking about it! If you have any suggestions for me, pretty please reach out to me here, or on Facebook or Instagram.
xo & happy reading!!
PS: If reading isn’t your thing, all of these books can also be purchased as audiobooks so you can listen to them while driving, cooking, cleaning, running, etc.
Personal Development/Mindset books
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz– literally the first book I share with anyone who wants to get into reading and personal development. The Four Agreements will ROCK YOUR WORLD. Also, if it’s any incentive to read it, Tom Brady reads it every year before his football season begins so if you’re a Patriots fan like me, you know that if the GOAT is into it, you better be as well! I also wrote a blog post all about The Four Agreements here so check it out 🙂
The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. This is one of the OG personal development books. Want to know what the big secret is? Ever heard of the Law of Attraction and wondered what it was all about? Well Rhonda Byrne explains it here. She also interviews some huge thought leaders, coaches, and successful business owners and shares their thoughts on the Law of Attraction. Epic stuff. Byrne also turned her book into a documentary on Netflix so instead of binge watching House of Cards, watch The Secret and learn how to create everything you’ve ever wanted in your life.
You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay– this book is full of beautiful and positive affirmations and concrete, simple ways you can change your life. If you want to feel empowered, if you want to feel like you can change your life, if you want to feel absolutely amazing about yourself, READ THIS BOOK. Louise Hay tells it like it is, she shares her beliefs and her practices that are much different than the way most people usually think.
The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. I had so much resistance when I first ordered this book it took me weeks after buying it to actually open it up and begin reading. But when I did, it shifted so much for me. I’m such a huge advocate of a morning ritual and this book is where it all started. The Miracle Morning explains why having a morning routine is so important, what it’s going to change in your life and what exactly to do during your Miracle Morning.
Loving What Is by Byron Katie. If everyone read this book and implemented the Four Questions Byron Katie shares, the world would be a completely different place. I’m really not exaggerating I promise. The entire premise of the book is loving reality, loving the present, loving what is happening right now, and not fighting it or believing it should be a certain way. If you read this book, implement the Four Questions and do The Work, your life is going to be SO different and so amazing. Try it, and let me know how it goes 🙂
The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. Do you have a creative project you’re working on, a book you want to write, a business you’re trying to start but this little thing called RESISTANCE keeps getting in the way? Do you want something so badly but something is stopping you from getting it and you don’t know what it is or WHY it’s happening? Trust me, I am an EXPERT on this. This is actually the story of my life. Thank god for Steven Pressfield and The War of Art because he explains all of this struggle here and more importantly, HOW TO MAKE IT STOP.
The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks. Another incredible book for anyone who wants to take their life to the next level, pursue what they are truly passionate about, and live in their genius. Hendricks goes through the different zones most people live in and how to expand from your zone of excellence into your zone of genius, the place you were meant to live and the reason you were put on this earth. Read The Big Leap to feel empowered and ready to kick fear to the curb.
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Exactly like the title, this book teaches you how to truly live in the present moment and why it is so important. Warning: if you listen to Eckhart Tolle on audiobook you may fall asleep. No offense to Tolle, he is an absolute genius but his voice is pretty monotonous and boring so I definitely suggest this one as a book you physically read!
Spirit Junkie by Gabby Bernstein. Gabby Bernstein rocks! I had the pleasure of meeting her in Boston last year and she taught me so much about spirituality and personal development. Her story from drugs and alcohol to being a spiritual guru is absolutely incredible and so inspiring. Spirit Junkie is a great place for any newbies to spirituality to start. Gabby is super down-to-earth and she shares her journey and what she learned in a way that is super relatable. I listened to this on audiobook and I loved hearing Gabby’s voice, it made me connect to her so much more.
The Universe Has Your Back by Gabby Bernstein. Gabby kills it again with this book. The Universe Has Your Back is all about trusting the journey you’re on and knowing that whatever happens happens for a divine purpose. This book is filled with incredible affirmations and little tidbits of knowledge that you can take with you when you’re questioning what you’re doing with your life and where it is taking you, aka every day for me.
Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Dr. Joe Dispenza. This is absolute gold for the neuroscience geek in me. But don’t worry, even if you’re not as obsessed with brain science as I am, you can still read this book and take away incredible information from it. In Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself Dr. Dispenza explains how you can rewire your brain to create different thoughts, feelings, experiences and basically an entirely different personality. He also shares how to manifest the experiences and opportunities you desire.
Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker. If you want to change your relationship with money, if you want to change your beliefs around wealth and how to achieve it, if you want to change your financial blueprint, than this is the book for you. I read this book on the plane to LA and I literally didn’t want to put it down. Many of the success entrepreneurs I know, all millionaires, have read Secrets of the Millionaire Mind and contribute much of their success to the principles T. Harv Eker lays out in it. So obviously, there’s something in this book worth paying attention to.
The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone. In this book, Grant Cardone tells it like it is. No sugar-coating, no beating-around-the-bush. Many people don’t like his attitude or how harsh he is but I like how real and straightforward he is. Cardone tells you how to 10X your life, your health, your business, your relationship, whatever you are looking to change or improve you will find the answer here. But if you’re looking for an easy way out, you won’t find it here. Cardone is talking about massive action and a crazy amount of effort, if you’re not ready for that than this book isn’t for you.
